If you haven't tried writing schema-aware XSLT or XQuery code, then I urge you to try it. You don't have to know anything about XSD, you just have to be working with documents for which an XSD exists. You'll find the experience of getting your errors diagnosed at compile-time, instead of messing about with xsl:message debugging, an absolute revelation.
