Thanks for the comments. Major releases have been getting less frequent - currently 8-10 months on recent form. I take the point that we should have a firm policy on academic licenses. We've tended to make concessions on a fairly ad-hoc basis: we give discounts for teaching and for XML-related research, but not for university admin or publishing, and for research we like to know what kind of funding the project has - if there are defence mega-bucks behind it, we feel we deserve our share.
