I'm curious if a similar strategy is used for other schema datatypes in the schema-aware version of saxon - but perhaps that is a secret? For example, in Geography Markup Language there are typically lots and lots of doubles in the form of list types. Would they be actually stored as java double precision numbers? Cheers, Peter
